Grinding Media    

Hyper steel Grinding Media Balls and Cylpebs as per IS 6079-1980

(a) CHEMICAL COMPOSITION: The chemical composition of the grinding media will be as per IS  6079-1980: as follows:

  GRADE-1
(For size 60 mm & above) 
GRADE-2
(For size below 60 mm) 
Carbon 1.10-1.60 1.50-2.00
Silicon 1.00 Max. 1.00 Max.
Manganese 0.90-1.60 0.90-1.60
Chromium 1.20-2.40 1.20-2.40
Sulphur 0.06 Max. 0.06 Max.
Phosphorous 0.06 Max. 0.06 Max.

(b) HARDNESS: When tested in accordance with IS 1500/1983 the hardness at any point across the section of the ball is more than 375 BHN.

(c) MICROSTRUCTURE: Microstructure shall be free from continuous carbide network.

(d) HEAT TREATMENT: The grinding media is suitably heat treated to obtain the required hardness and Microstructure.

(e) STANDARD SIZE OF GRINDING MEDIA: 

Balls diameter  (mm) - 100,90,80,75,70,65,60,50,40,30,25, & 20
Cylpebs (mm)-25x25, 22x22, 19x19

OTHER TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS WILL CONFORM TO IS 6079-1980

(f) TOLERANCE ON SIZE: Variation on size shall not exceed the following limits:-

SHAPE AND SIZE TOLERANCE (mm)
 (1) Balls for sizes 60 mm & above +/- 3.00
 (2) Balls for sizes 50 mm & below +/- 2.50
 (3)Cylpebs for all sizes +/- 1.50

(a) CHEMICAL COMPOSITION: The chemical composition of the grinding media will be as per IS  6079-1980: as follows:

High chrome steel Grinding Media Balls and Cylpebs 

(a) CHEMICAL COMPOSITION: The chemical composition of the grinding media will be as follows:

Carbon 1.50-3.00% 2.0-3.0%
Silicon 0.40-1.00% 0.4-1.5%
Manganese 0.60-2.00% 0.6-2.0%
Chromium 12.0-16.00% 16.0-20.0%
Molybdenum 0.50 Max. 0.5-1.0%
Sulphur 0.06% Max. 0.06% Max.
Phosphorous 0.06% Max. 0.06% Max.

(b) HARDNESS: When tested in accordance with IS 1500/1983 the hardness at any point across the section of the ball is 600 BHN.

(c) MICROSTRUCTURE: Fine martensitic structure with dispersed Eutetic secondary carbides.

(d) HEAT TREATMENT: The grinding media is suitably heat treated to obtain the required hardness and Microstructure.

(e) STANDARD SIZE OF GRINDING MEDIA: 
Balls diameter  (mm)-100,90,80,75,70,65,60,50,40,30,25, & 20
Cylpebs (mm)-25x25, 22x22, 19x19, 16x16
